Can I Get Just One Sheet Cut to My Shape Before I Order the Rest?
My panel isn’t a rectangle, and I don’t want to pay for a full batch before I know the shape fits and lights evenly. Can I get just one sheet cut to my shape first?
Yes. Send your drawing, and JJS LED light sheet will cut a sample from a standard flexible sheet before you order the rest. What you get back is a grid-cut approximation of your outline, not a moulded copy — and checking that approximation is the whole point of the sample.
How your shape actually gets cut
Flexible LED light sheets are cut along grid lines. Your shape is laid over the grid and cut along the nearest grid lines. A rectangle, or a shape with long straight runs, comes out close to the drawing. A curve or a diagonal does not. A round corner becomes small straight cuts, and a diagonal becomes a staircase edge.
There is no mould for this process, and no die-cut tool made for one order. The sample is a standard sheet, cut down. It shows the real stepped edge, not a rendered ideal.
What to send for a shape quote
A photo alone is not enough. Send a drawing with these points marked:
| Include | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | The cutter works from measurements |
| Cavity depth | The sample must sit in the real recess |
| Cable exit position | It decides where the connector and lead sit |
| Visible face | The lit face and mounting face are not interchangeable |
| Front material | Light changes with the stone, resin, or glass in front |
Mark the visible face clearly — a shape that lights correctly but faces the wrong way is not a usable sample.
The glowing area is 1.6mm thick, and the connector stands 5.6mm proud of the sheet. Allow 6mm at the connector and 2mm at the glowing area. If the connector lands where the cavity is shallowest, say so on the drawing. Confirm the certifications required for your market when ordering.
What the sample proves
A shape sample answers three practical questions. First, fit in the cavity. Drop the sample into the actual recess. Check the outline against the cavity walls, the connector clearance, and where the cable leaves.
Second, edge behaviour. Look at the stepped edges in place, under the material that will cover them. Some steps disappear once translucent stone or resin sits in front of the sheet. Others stay visible, especially near thin or exposed edges.
Third, lighting uniformity across the shape. Narrow necks, sharp points, and thin arms light differently from a broad rectangle. A point may go dim, and a narrow arm may show the LED pattern more than the wide part. The final result always depends on a sample test with the real stone.
Limits to know before you order
No moulds are made for a custom shape, and no edge is forced to match your outline exactly. If your design needs a perfectly smooth curve or a sharp point that holds its exact angle, a grid-cut sheet will not deliver it. The sample also proves the shape, not the whole installation. It does not settle driver sizing or sheet counts for the full order.
Sheet choice still matters. The BG-2002 single-colour sheet is 610×305mm, with 288 LEDs and a 30W rating. The BG-0318 RGBCCT sheet is 490×245mm, with 640 LEDs, a 24V, 50W rating, 2700K and 6000K white channels, and 6 cores (V+/R/G/B/warm/cool). The BG-0313 RGBW sheet has 512 LEDs, a 45W rating, and 5 cores, with white only in 3000K or 6000K. All three carry a CRI above 95.
FAQ
Can the sample be cut to my exact outline?
As closely as the grid allows. Straight edges will be close; curves and diagonals will be stepped.
What if my shape is bigger than one sheet?
It is built by splicing multiple sheets together. The sample shows how the spliced surface lights and where the joins fall.
Do I need to send the stone or resin with the drawing?
Not for the quote. Without the real front material, a sample proves fit and edge shape only — uniformity needs the material in front of it.
What if the stepped edge is too visible?
Change the design, not the cutting method. Soften a curve into a polygon with longer straight runs, or move an edge further behind the front material.
Request your shape sample
Send your drawing with dimensions, cavity depth, cable exit position, and the visible face marked, and request a quote for a shape sample. Check the sample in the real cavity, behind the real material, and only then confirm the full quantity. You can also review the range on the flexible PCB LED light sheets page.
