Display case and showcase lighting
LED Display Case Lighting with Thin LED Light Sheets
Use custom LED light sheets to create even, low-profile backlighting for display cases, jewelry showcases, museum cabinets, retail shelves and branded product displays.
Why display cases need a different lighting plan
Display case lighting is not only about brightness. Jewelry, museum objects, cosmetics, collectibles and premium retail products need a thin lighting system that keeps the cabinet clean, avoids visible hot spots, controls heat, and fits around shelves, glass, locks, hinges and wiring exits.
A flexible LED light sheet can act as a shallow, even backlight or shelf light. It is especially useful when the display case has limited depth, needs a custom lit area, or requires consistent brightness across several shelves.
Best-fit display case applications
| Application | What to confirm | Recommended LED sheet detail |
|---|---|---|
| Jewelry showcases | Low heat, glare control, high CRI and easy maintenance access. | Custom cut LED light sheets with 3000K, 4000K or 6000K options and separated power zones. |
| Museum display cabinets | Stable color temperature, dimming, concealed wiring and service access. | 24V light sheets with a dimmable driver and wiring reviewed before cabinet production. |
| Retail shelves | Repeatable size, fast installation and consistent brightness across shelves. | Standardized LED sheet modules with connector positions matched to the shelf design. |
| Brand product displays | Logo area, color consistency and clean cable routing. | Custom shape LED light sheets for acrylic, translucent panels or product backwalls. |
LED light sheet vs strip light inside a showcase
LED strips are easy to buy, but they often create lines, bright dots or dark zones unless the cabinet has enough diffusion depth. LED light sheets spread light across a larger surface, so they can keep a thinner display structure and a cleaner view through glass.
- Use LED light sheets when the display needs even surface illumination, shallow depth or a custom shape.
- Use LED strips when the project only needs edge accent lighting or has enough depth for diffusion.
- Use a reviewed driver layout when several shelves or panels share one power supply.
Specification checklist before production
Send drawings or cabinet dimensions before the sample stage. The most important inputs are lit area size, visible material, cabinet depth, color temperature, dimming method, power location, cable exit direction, quantity and target market voltage.
Power supply and wiring for display cases
Most commercial display case projects work better with 24V constant-voltage LED light sheets because they are more tolerant of larger layouts and longer cable runs than many 12V systems. Confirm the wattage, reserve capacity, connector type and controller compatibility before the cabinet is built.
For electrical planning, use the LED light sheet power supply guide and the LED light sheet calculator.
FAQ
- Can LED light sheets be used in jewelry display cases?
- Yes. They are a good fit when the showcase needs even lighting, low profile installation and concealed wiring. High CRI and the right color temperature should be confirmed with samples.
- Are LED light sheets cooler than traditional display lighting?
- They can reduce concentrated hot spots when specified correctly, but every project still needs a suitable driver, ventilation and load calculation.
- Can the LED sheet be made to a custom display case size?
- Yes. Custom sizes, cable positions and shapes can be reviewed from cabinet drawings before sample production.
- What should I send for a display case quote?
- Send cabinet drawings, lit area dimensions, quantity, color temperature, dimming needs, power location, photos or renderings, and the installation country.
Plan display case lighting before cabinet production
Send the display case drawing, lit area size and target brightness. We can review the LED sheet layout, power supply size and sample options before production.
